Slovak manager Ján Kozák announced his squad for the upcoming EURO qualifier against Macedonia, calling up 27 players.
Slovakia will be targeting another win in order to remain perfect in these qualifications. They host Macedonia on June 14 and for that occasion manager Ján Kozák called up 27 players . The squad looks very similar to what Slovakia has relied on to pick up some impressive results in group play.
There are only two players missing, both because of injury. Kozák will be without 32-year-old attacker Stanislav Šesták (58 caps) and 33-year-old central defender Ján Ďurica (72). Also, there is one new name among the summoned players and that’s 30-year-old left back Lukáš Tesák who plays in Russia.
The Slovaks will start their preparations on June 3 and train in the town of Senec until the 7th of June. Later, they will move to Žilina which is where the qualifier will be played. Like Macedonia, Slovakia also won’t be playing a friendly before the match.
In the first encounter between these two national teams last November, Slovakia celebrated a 2:0 win in Skopje.
Regarding his roster, Kozák gave the following statement: “The dates in June are very specific since the players have already finished their club seasons. We want to keep them in the training process and give them the best possible preparations for the last game of the 2014-15 season. I believe that we will bring joy to all national team supporters in Slovakia. Due to injuries, Jano Ďurica and Stano Šesták are not available. Furthermore, the training camp won’t start will all players present because some still have games with their clubs. Because of that fact, we have nominated more players than usual. A newcomer is Lukáš Tesák who has proven his worth in the top Russian league by becoming a regular starters for his side.”
