Sileks eliminated from Champions league qualifiers

The Macedonian representative in the Champions league qualifiers are eliminated by Azeri champions Qarabağ.

The second placed team in the last season’s championship who got to represent Macedonia in the Champions league qualifiers because first place Vardar didn’t get the UEFA license, are eliminated in the first round by Azeri side Qarabağ.

The champions of Azerbaijan were the better opponent during the match and deserved the win and the placement in the second round. The hosts took the lead only after 11 minutes with the goal by Romero and doubled the lead in the 40th minute with the goal by Guerrier.

Guerrier scored another goal in the 51st minute, this time from a corner kick for a 3:0 lead for Qarabağ. Sileks then finally woke up and had two good chances by Ivanovski and Tanturovski, but they failed to score and Emreli set the final score with a goal in the 80th minute.

For Qarabağ full 90 minutes played Uroš Matić, a Serbian player of Macedonian origin who’s documents for representing Macedonia got stuck at FIFA.
