Shpëtim Duro leaves Shkendija

Surprisingly Shkendija’s managerial position is left empty after Shpëtim Duro decided to leave the Tetovo based club.

Albanian coach Shpëtim Duro left Shkendija‘s bench besides his good results. He didn’t got fired, the club board wanted to hold him but due to offer of Partizani from Albania’s capital city Tirana where his family lives, he decided to leave Shkendija. Duro even accepted a lower offer just to be his family.

Duro had a good season with the Tetovo based club since his hiring 3 rounds before the winter break. He lead Shkendija from the relegation zone to a place in the Europa League qualifications, recording 11 wins, 4 draws and only 2 defeats. He managed to beat title contenders Turnovo, Vardar, Metalurg and even the champions Rabotnichki. He was in a 7 games winning run.

The players are currently on vacation, but Shkendija will soon have to hire a new coach as the preparations for the European summer will start somewhere in June. Speculations are saying that former Macedonian national team coach Dragi Kanatlarovski has been in contact with the board, but also Artim Shakjiri, Albanian coach Armando Cungu and former Croatian national team player Adrian Kozniku.
