Zekirija Ramadan has left Shkupi to take over the managerial position of Flamurtari in Albania.
Shkupi, one of the surprise teams during the first half of the season, recently underwent a coaching change after Zekirija Ramadan left to take over Flamurtari. Ramadan was fairly popular among Shkupi fans, but he viewed Flamurtari as a step up for his career. So, he informed Shkupi management that he leave effective immediately. Formerly a national team player with 7 caps for Macedonia, Zekirija’s last name is today often mistaken with adding an “i” at the end.
In turn, Shkupi stayed in-house to quickly fill the vacancy. Visar Ganiu was moved from sporting director to head coach.
Shkupi has 24 points after 18 completed rounds this season, good enough for a 4th place tie with Rabotnichki. The Skopje-based side will begin winter preparations with Ganiu this upcoming Monday, on January 11, to get ready for the remaining games on the schedule.
