Skopje based club Shkupi appointed the new manager for the new season. A bit of a surprise, it is 39-year-old former midfielder Ertan Demiri for whom this will be the first coaching job in his career. Previously he worked as sports director of Kosovar club Trepça’89.
Demiri is well known in the neighborhood of Chair as he started his playing career in the youth academy of Sloga Jugomagnat. He played there until 20o4 winning the domestic league in the season 2000/01. He left Sloga for fierce local rivals Vardar and then went to another Skopje based rival Rabotnichki where he won the double in 2007/08. Eventually he tried himself abroad playing for Belgian side Lokeren and Saudi side Al-Taawon. Back in Macedonia he also featured for Metalurg, Teteks and Shkendija before ending his career in Albanian side Partizani.
“Finally I am back home. I would like to thank the board for entrusting me, I believe that with my experience I will contribute so that this club continues to grow even more. My coming to Shkupi is the result of a very ambitious project. I will try to be the link between the players, the board and the technical staff and I will also engage in the youth academy in order to help to produce more players for the first team.” – said Demiri for the club’s official web site.
Ertan was summoned couple of times in the senior national teams but made only one appearance in a friendly match against Moldova back in 2009.
