Shkëndija eliminate TNS to challenge FCSB (Video)

Shkëndija defeated The New Saints after extra time and advanced in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

After the goalless draw in the first leg in, Shkëndija hosted the Welsh champions in Skopje. After just 18 minutes of play the Macedonian champions broke the dead lock when captain Besart Ibraimi penetrated into the Welsh box from the left and served Fabrice Tamba on the far post, with the later easily tapped in for a 1:0 lead.

Shkëndija seemed to have control, but near the end of the first half, in the 38th minute Jordan Williams scored on empty net after a shot by Harrison McGahey was deflected by Imran Fetai.

One managed to score a winner in the second half and the match in extra time. Shkëndija managed to create several chances, but could not beat the Welsh keeper.

Eventually in the 116th minute Ibraime fired, Shepperd saved, the ball reached Ademi on the right and when trying to serve Aleksander Trumçi in the box Jack Bodenham sent the ball in his own net.

Highlights:

Shkëndija in the second qualifying round will face Romanian giants FCBS, formerly known as Steaua, who eliminated Andorran champions Inter Escaldes. The Romanians with 3:1 in the first leg and home and tonight were surprised with a 2:1 defeat.
