The much needed win snapped Volyn’s three game losing streak in league play.  Vance Sikov returned from his red card suspension by getting the start at right CB and playing all 90 minutes, while Dusan Savic returned from his injury and had a great game by playing a part in all three goals.  Savic was eventually substituted in the 87th minute.

On the first goal for Volyn in the 36th minute, Savic was fouled inside the area and the referee immediately pointed to the spot.  Dusan’s strike partner, Brazilian attacker Maicon, converted the spot kick to hand Volyn a 0:1 lead over Metalurh Donetsk.  Then, in the 39th minute, Savic received a pass before scoring a nice goal from the edge of the area.  The shot hit the inside of the right goal post before reaching the back of the net.  It was Dusan’s first league goal in a Volyn uniform since joining the club in the winter transfer window earlier this year from Rabotnicki.

Finally, in the 84th minute, while on a counter attack, Savic made a nice pass to Maicon who took a few dribbles before slotting a shot past the opposing keeper.  The Metalurh Donetsk goalkeeper got a touch on the ball but could still not prevent the Maicon shot from reaching the low right corner.

Dusan Savic wins a penalty (start of video), scores a goal (at 0:23) and assists (at 0:54):

Vance Sikov almost scored a goal in the 11th minute, directly from a free kick, but his powerful shot from about 25 meters was saved nicely by the home keeper before going for a corner.

With the win, Volyn climbed to 11th place of the Ukrainian top division with 25 points while Metalurh Donetsk remained in the 7th position with 34 points.
