Robert Popov injured for Kriens

Macedonian defender Robert Popov missed today’s St. Gallen vs. Kriens match because of an injury.

Robert Popov, the older brother of Goran, sat out today’a game for Kriens because of an injury.  He signed for Swiss second division side Kriens earlier in the summer after being out of football for over a year.  Before signing for Kriens, the 29-year-old Popov last played for French club AJ Auxerre but his contract was mutually terminated during the summer of 2010.  He waited for over a year before he finally signed with Kriens earlier in the summer.  Today’s match resulted in a 3:2 loss for Kriens against St. Gallen, the current leaders in the second division.

Popov has made one appearance for Kriens by coming on as a 2nd half substitute during a match against Bellinzona on 11 September 2011.  However, Popov recently picked up an injury which forced him to miss today’s game.  Kriens is struggling mightily at the moment as they are second from bottom on the table with only 4 points after eight rounds in the Swiss second division.
