We reached out to Riza Durmisi on Tuesday to get the latest as to whether he is still considering playing for the Macedonian national team in the future.
Brøndby left-back Riza Durmisi, who turns 21 years old in early January, is one player that Boshko Gjurovski is looking to recruit for the Macedonian national team. This week, some rumors surfaced that members of the coaching staff once again contacted Durmisi about representing Macedonia, so we reached out to Riza to get the latest on his situation.
Here is our facebook exchange with Durmisi that took place on Tuesday:
Based on his comment, his first priority remains playing for Denmark, his birth country. However, if that doesn’t happen over the next 1-3 years, then he would consider other options.
Gjurovski is targeting Durmisi because left-back has been a big weakness on the national team. The manager has tried both Ardian Cuculi and Ezgjan Alioski at that position in this qualifying cycle, but Gjurovski is looking for an upgrade. That’s why they are looking to snatch up Durmisi whose connection to Macedonia is through his parents.
Durmisi is currently teammates with another Macedonian international in Ferhan Hasani at Brøndby.
