Stefan Ristovski, the one who plays for Celje, has signed a contract extension to remain with the Slovenian club next season.
Stefan Ristovski was able to convince the club’s management of his qualities, and he signed a contract extension yesterday to remain with Celje next season. The deal was announced on Celje’s official website. Ristovski is still only 19 years old and plays primarily in defensive midfield.
Last season, Ristovski made 11 league appearances for Celje but missed numerous games due to a concussion. He returned in early March and played regularly to close the season, including in the Slovenian Cup final which his club lost in the penalty shootout to Maribor and Agim Ibraimi.
The Stefan Ristovski from Celje, unlike his namesake who plays for Frosinone in Italy, has rarely featured for any of the youth national teams of Macedonia. However, if he maintains his good performances for Celje, then U21 manager Boban Babunski could look to add him to the squad as a reinforcement for the next qualifying cycle when players will need to be born in 1992 or later to be eligible for the U21 team.
As for Celje, the club begins its summer preparations on 11 June and they will have a new manager next season in Marijan Pušnik.
