Renova was beaten again by Omonia, this time with 0:2 and is eliminated from the Champions League with 0:5 on aggregate.
Without a goal scored and with 5 in it’s net, Champions League newcomer Renova ends it’s European adventure after just one round. The champion of Cyprus came to Skopje for a win and easily managed to grab one leaving Macedonian champion without even a gola to celebrate. With a few changes in the first eleven, Renova tried to score in the beginning of the game, but Boban Jancevski’s shot was saved and Vulnet Emini missed the whole goal. In the 15th minute of the game, Omonia ended all the hopes for Renova that a possible miracle could happen when Stathis Aloneftis openned the score bringing the 0:1 lead to his team. The guests continued to attack and nearly 10 minute later, in the 24th, their lead was increased with another goal. This time the scorer was Leandro Marcolini Pedroso de Almeida, the Brazilian born who used to play for the Hungarian national team. In the rest of the game, Omonia could have dobbled their lead as they had 18 shots towards Armend Elezi’s goal, while Renova had only 7 of which 3 went wide. Interesting, but no cards were shown in this match.
Omonia goes to the 3rd qualification round where will face the Austrian champion Red Bull Salzburg who with 5:1 on aggregate won the clash against HB Tórshavn, the champion of the Faroe Islands.
