Preview: Round 8

alt Round 8 scheduled for this weekend with one match already being played. The derby between the champions and the leaders on Saturday, the other five matches on Sunday.

Renova will be favorites when hosting Sloga Jugomagnat in the quest for three new points and closing the gap with Rabotnicki further. Renova are currently on the second place with three points behind Rabotnicki. Sloga have started OK, we might say, and they are eighth at the moment with eight points won. However, they are rather poor away from home and everything except a defeat tomorrow can be counted as a success for them.

Metalurg against Pobeda once again these days. These two met in the cup and twice the result was 1-0 for the hosts with Metalurg being more successful after the penalty shootout. Now, once again in Skopje a match between two teams that haven’t started as they wished. Pobeda has three points, should have had six, but they got a 3 points deduction. Metalurg have six points and all are won through draws. Six draws out of seven matches and still without a win. Red alert is already activated and Gjore Jovanovski’s position as a manager is not so safe at the moment. Metalurg’s imperative is a win for sure but Pobeda will not give up easily.

Vardar will have the chance to revenge the shameful 9-1 defeat to Milano tomorrow when they visit Kumanovo. Milano are in a position as we all know and Vardar’s win should not be put into question. Easy three points are to be expected and goal difference corrected. Milano’s coach resigned and Vardar should have an easier training tomorrow.

Pelister will be hosting Teteks while waiting for positive news from the possible Slovenian sponsor. In the squad Dimitrovski, Lazarevski and Bradonjic will return which is certainly very good news for the new coach Naum Ljamcevski. These two teams are table neighbors with same number of points with Teteks being upper due to goal difference. A lot time has passed since these two played in the first league, but it hasn’t been much since they last met in the second league. Now, once again in the elite championship, these two will fight for three points and a safer place in the middle.

Horizont Turnovo will try to give Sileks the first defeat this season after Sileks’ amazing start with no defeat after seven rounds and third place at the moment. Last season stadium Kukus was unconquered fortress for all the teams, but this season only one win in the four matches so far for Turnovo. A spell will definitely be broken – but which? Will Sileks be defeated? Will Turnovo win at home and overtake Sileks’ place? Definitely one of the more interesting matches of the round.
