Vardar visits Renova and Rabotnichki travels to Horizont Turnovo in the return legs of the semi-final matches of the Macedonian Cup.
The return legs of the semi-final matches are scheduled for tomorrow in what will ultimately decide which two teams will reach the Macedonian Cup final. Vardar will be looking to qualify for the final and thus have a chance to win the double crown since the club has all but locked up the league title, Renova and Rabotnichki will be looking to ‘save’ the season by winning a spot in the UEFA Europa League, as will outsider Horizont Turnovo who could write a new chapter in its history if it were to prevail in the competition.
Both first legs ended 1:1 which means that Vardar and Rabotnichki, as road teams this time, will need to score at least a goal in Tetovo and Turnovo, respectively. Vardar has lots of problems with the squad right now as several key players are injured, but they will be looking to repeat history from two years ago. The first leg between these two teams, which was at home, also ended 1:1 before Vardar won 0:1 on the road in the return leg on the 28th of September in 2010 to advance in the competition.
Vardar reached the semifinals comfortably by getting past Gorno Lisiche, Tikvesh and 11 Oktomvri, while Renova had no problems with Karaorman, Gostivar and Teteks.
In the other match, Horizont Turnovo will be looking to write history and acquire a place in the final of the Macedonian Cup. The club managed to play a 1:1 draw in Skopje against Rabotnichki and will be looking to defend that positive result in the return leg. Rabotnichki is the more experienced team and rested its starters in the last league game so they should be ready for this important game. Rabotnichki has disappointed in league play so the club must advance to the domestic cup final if they want to have a chance at qualifying for the UEFA Europa League next season.
Turnovo got to the semis by eliminating Pobeda Junior, Pelister and Bregalnica Shtip, while Rabotnichki was convincing against Mogila and Napredok but needed penalties to get past Metalurg. The Turnovo vs. Rabotnichki match will be aired on tv.ffm.com.mk, starting at 16:00 CET.
The final will then be played on the 2nd of May in Shtip.
