Friday’s play-off draw gave Macedonia its opponents on the path to its first ever World Cup appearance.

The fortune was not on the Lynx’s side as Lothar Matthäus put Macedonia into the strongest Path C. Macedonia will first have to eliminate Italy on the road and then face the winner of the clash between Portugal and Turkey in order to reach its debut World Cup appearance.

The stadium and the city where Italy will host Macedonia is yet to be decided, while the date is already set: it will be played on Thursday 24 March 2022 at 20:45 CET.

The two semifinal winners of our path will face each other on Tuesday 29 March 2022 to decide the World Cup participant in a final match hosted by Portugal or Turkey, with a kick-off at 20:45 CET as well.
