It was expected that the Macedonian star player would retire at Genoa this summer, but he left the club to join fellow legendary player Gianluigi Buffon at Parma.

Pandev was at Genoa since the summer of 2016 and leaves after 5,5 years playing 187 matches and scoring 32 goals, considering all official competitions.

Since he had a contract with the Griffoni, it remains unknown whether Parma payed a fee for his services having in mind that it is not a loan but a full transfer.

His contract will Parma is until the end of the season when it is expected Pandev to go into retirement. However, there is an option for an additional year!

In his new club Pandev will have the number 27, the same one that he had at Inter during his golden time.

“Untill yesterday he didn’t even think of leaving Genoa, he wanted to end his career there. I still think that after he retires he will live in Genoa. At the moment I would say that this is his last season, but who knows what the future can bring. He is full of energy and he can continue playing. At Parma he will have a leading role in their project starting from this second half-season. Parma has a good squad, the club is pretty serious. There was no way he would have moved to another Serie A side as he doesn’t want to play against Genoa”, said his agent Leonardo Corsi.

Today Pandev had his first training with Parma. Also, he published a farewell message to Genoa on his Instagram profile: “It is difficult to leave these colors. I felt it was time to go, no one forsed me to do it. Arriving at this age it is only the passion that gives you the push, the awareness of being part of a project. You cannot pretend with yourself, no way, but you will always be in my heart: my city, my colors, my square. I would like to come back and greet you all as it should be, at the Marassi, one more time, to hear from my fans one last time. Thanks for the emotion you have given me. Genoa forever!”
