The Serie A season was supposed to start in late August but the first round was postponed due to a player strike.  However, the strike was recently lifted so the Italian season will begin this weekend.  Due to Pandev being suspended for the Andorra game earlier in the week, he returned to his club team and had an extra couple of days in training to get accustomed to the tactics of Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri.

Speaking about Pandev to Italian newspapers today, Goran’s agent Carlo Pallavicino stated the following, ” Goran is in good physical condition.  He recently returned to Italy on a private plane and has already attended three trainings under Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri.  Goran is excited to join an ambitious club that has high expectations.  As we all know, he is technically gifted and has the ability to play all three roles in attack.  I talked to the Napoli manager and he told me that if Pandev runs and works hard, he will definitely play.  Also, since Napoli will be playing in three competitions (Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Champions League), the manager will need to rotate the players in order to keep them sharp and fresh for the entire season.”

The Napoli attack looks potent on paper with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marek Hamšík, and Goran Pandev.  Napoli has spent a lot of money this summer and they are expected to contend for the Serie A title.  The Italian club also decided to add Pandev on loan after being drawn in the toughest group of the Champions League.  Napoli was drawn in Group A along with Bayern München, Villarreal, and Manchester City.
