Pachovski surprised by keeper situation

Tome Pachovski admitted that he is surprised by the current keeper situation at Mechelen with the club not selling any goalkeeper to this point after the arrival of Pachovski.

Tome Pachovski signed a 3 year deal with Mechelen several weeks ago, expecting to play regularly.  The Belgian club began the preparations for next season yesterday.  Tome came to Mechelen thinking that last year’s starting keeper Olivier Renard would be sold but that has not happened yet.  Renard’s expected transfer to Standard Liège fell through.  Thus, Mechelen’s first training was attended by three keepers in Pachovski, Renard and Wouter Biebauw.

Pachovski gave his thoughts on the issue to a Belgian newspaper, “I’m surprised with the current situation.  Mechelen now has three good goalkeepers.  The competition will ultimately benefit the club, but somebody will be left out.”

Tome seems to be in a similar situation in Mechelen as he was with his former club Beerschot.  In both cases, there are well known veteran Belgian keepers that seem to be ahead of him.  At Beerschot, that player was Stijn Stijnen and now he has to deal with Olivier Renard in Mechelen.
