Goran Pandev’s Inter celebrated a 3:0 win over Sasa Ognenovski’s Seongnam.
The semi-final of the Club World Cup between European champions Inter and Asian champions Seongnam was played today. It was especially interesting for Macedonian fans because on one side we saw Goran Pandev and on the other Sasa Ognenovski – a player who was close to playing for Macedonian national team, but was called by Australia.
The match went mainly in Inter’s favour with Pandev being rather quiet. Serbian Dejan Stanković opened the scoreline in the third minute, while Pandev had an opportunity in the 16th minute, but his shot was saved by the keeper. Zanetti doubled the lead for Inter after a great one-two play with Milito. A minute before the second goal was scored, Ognenovski picked up a yellow card after he tackled Stanković. Goran Pandev sent a powerful shot in the 51st minute but it went wide. 4 minutes later Ognenovski met the ball with his head after a corner kick but his header was off target. Milito set the final score of the match in the 73rd minute, although Ognenovski had an opportunity 2 minutes later when he shot powerfully from a free-kick, but Inter’s keeper blocked the shot.
With this win, Inter will meet African champions Mazembe in the Club World Cup final and Pandev will have an opportunity for another title.
