Sasa Ognenovski and his Adelaide United finished on the fifth place at the FIFA Club World Cup 2008 that is held in Japan. In the match for the 5th place they have beat Egyptian side Al Ahly with 1:0.
Sasa Ognenovski played the whole 90 minutes for Adelaide United as they managed to get the 5th place at the FIFA Club World Cup. It was Brazilian international Cristiano who scored the only goal early in the 7th minute. Ognenovski’s team held the score until the end with a good defense lead by the Macedonian international that is still waiting for his debut in the Macedonian national team. He had four fouls committed and two shots on the opponent’s goal from which one hit the target. Also he hit the wall from a free kick.
Ognenovski played two of Adelaide’s three matches at this years Club World Cup. He missed the first match against New Zealand’s and Oceania’s champion Waitakere United due to illness, than played the whole game against Japan’s and Asia’s champion Gamba Osaka which Adelaide lost with 1:0 and now he played again the full match against Egypt’s and Africa’s champion, Al Ahly.
The Australian born Macedonian has 29 years, 1.95m height and has never been capped for Australia. He is in a good form and its Srečko Katanec’s turn to call him and see if he can prove his merits in the Macedonian national team colors.
