Macedonia gained a point away to Georgia in the second game of the actual Nations League season.
photo by FFM: Macedonia’s players celebrate after Ristovski’s goal
Like in the last game the Lions started again with a 4-2-3-1. Igor Angelovski had a few changes as this time Alioski was moved from the wing to LB. Ristovski was the RB, while Velkovski and Musliu were also on the usual positions, at CB. Spirovski was the new partner of Ademi in DM (last game Nikolov played there), Bardhi was in AMC, Elmas on the left wing, Trajkovski on the right, while Pandev played as the lone striker.
The hosts Georgia opened the score in the 13th minute when Okriashvili converted a penalty. Alioski was the player who had a bad tackle in the box when he awkwardly fouled from behind. Luckily Macedonia was able to equalize relatively fast in the 33th minute. Captain Pandev found Ristovski who finished with a right-footed shot after an impressive run on the right side. In the 59th minute Nikolov and Nestorovski were introduced for Ademi and Trajkovski. Five minutes later Musliu was sent off with a direct red card. A doubtful decision by the referee, but even with an yellow card Musliu would have to leave the pitch as he already had a yellow card from the 58th minute. Later in the 78th minute Bejtulai replaced Pandev to strengthen the weakened defense. No more goals were scored, so eventually the game ended with a legitimate draw.
Highlights:
The next game for our national team will be the big clash against Kosovo in October. A lot of the players are still not in the best shape, so a lot of work is needed in the upcoming month to prepare for that game.
