The Macedonian national team player left the Italian Serie B side after an unsuccessful half-season where he played 13 matches, but almost always as a second half substitution.
The 27-year-old midfielder was rumored to stay in Italy with newly promoted Venezia or Salernitana, but nothing of that happened.
Today he was confirmed as new player of Sheriff by the club itself.
Sheriff is battling to reach the Champions League group stage and has been impressive so far in the qualifiers. They started from the 1st round by easily eliminating Albanian Teuta (5:0 overall),than they eliminated Armenian Alashkert (4:1 overall) and in the 3rd round surprisingly knocked out Serbian giants Crvena zvezda (2:1 overall). In the play-offs they smashed Croatian champions Dinamo 3:0 in the opening leg with the return leg being scheduled for Wednesday in Zagreb. If they go through, Nikolov will play in the CL group stage.
