More candidates for manager position

FFMThe Football Federation of Macedonia has announced three more foreign coaches have entered the race to succeed Mirsad Jonuz.

The potential managers who have expressed interest in the vacant manager post are German Klaus Augenthaler, Croatian Ćiro Blažević, and Frenchman Alain Giresse.  As the FFM website reports, German manager Klaus Augenthaler has shown interest in becoming the manager through former Macedonian international Saša Ćirić who stills lives and works in Germany.  Augenthaler started his coaching career with Bayern München as an assistant coach soon after his playing career ended.  The German coach is now 53 years old and last managed German third division club SpVgg Unterhaching before he was relieved of his duties last month.  The next manager to show interest in the position is Croatian Ćiro Blažević.  He has coached many teams throughout his career and used to be the former manager of the Croatian national team.  The drawback to Blažević is that he is now 76 years old and might be a short term hire since how long will he want to manage at the age?  The third manager to also express interest in the post is Frenchman Alain Giresse who is currently the manager of the Mali national team.  He also used to manage the national teams of both Georgia and Gabon.

FFM has also conducted interviews with former Macedonian international Artim Sakiri and current Vardar manager Ilco Gjorgioski.  These five potential managers are joined by Macedonians Gjoko Hadzievski and Cedomir Janevski and four other foreign coaches, Zoran Filipović, Ljupko Petrović, Plamen Markov, and Ziya Doğan, in the race to become the next manager of the Macedonian national team.  Gjore Jovanovski was also interviewed but he later withdrew his interest and will not be considered for the manager position.  Keep in mind that FFM announced that the new manager will be named no later than 15 July 2011.  The first game in charge for the new manager will be in a friendly against Azerbaijan on 10 August 2011 in Baku.
