Midweek internationals performances

Goran Popov battles with Vincent Kompany; photo: fcdynamo.kiev.uaGoran Popov and Dynamo Kyiv picked up an impressive victory over Manchester City, Edin Nuredinoski kept a clean sheet for Ethnikos Achnas, while Aleksandar Lazevski sustained an injury for Partizan.

UEFA Europa League, Round of 16, Dynamo Kyiv – Manchester City 2:0
Goran Popov started at LB and played all 90 minutes for Dynamo Kyiv who picked up an impressive win over Manchester City with goals from Andriy Shevchenko and Oleh Gusiev.  Popov didn’t go forward much from his position as he stayed back and looked solid on defense.  This was the first leg and Dynamo Kyiv will have a two goal advantage for the return leg which will be next Thursday on March 17th at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Cyprus, Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup, Alki – Ethnikos Achnas 0:3
Edin Nuredinoski played from the start for Ethnikos Achnas and kept a clean sheet, Vance Sikov started at CB and played the entire game, Stojan Ignjatov also got the start and played until the 70th minute when he was replaced by Ivan Petrović, while Filip Ivanovski was an unused substitute.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Hajduk Kula – Partizan 0:4
Aleksandar Lazevski started for Partizan but picked up an injury early in the game and had to be substituted in the 7th minute by Marko Jovanović.  Lazevski had x-rays after the game which showed that he has a knee contusion but the injury is not believed to be serious and he should only miss about a week.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Vojvodina – BSK Borča 2:1
Daniel Mojsov played the entire game for Vojvodina who remain third place in the standings with 38 points from 17 games.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Rad – Metalac 2:0
Aleksandar Todorovski was once again not among the 18 players called up by Rad as he has been relegated to the reserve team for not signing a contract extension and negotiating with Polish club Polonia Warszawa behind their back.  Todorovski didn’t break any rules as any player with less than six months on their contract has the right to negotiate with other clubs but Rad is getting tough with Todorovski by forcing him to sign an extension so they don’t lose him for free in the summer or he won’t play for them for the rest of the season.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Smederevo – Jagodina 0:0
Zoran Todorov played all 90 minutes for Smederevo while Dragan Stojkov joined Jagodina in the January transfer window and made his league debut by starting on the bench before he entered the game in the 77th minute replacing Marko Mugoša.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Borac Čačak – Čukarički 3:0
Stefan Spirovski played all 90 minutes for Borac Čačak.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, OFK Beograd – Sevojno 1:0
Gjorgi Tanusev started on the bench for Sevojno before he entered the game in the 78th minute replacing Savo Kovačević.

Serbia, Jelen SuperLiga, Spartak Zlatibor Voda – Javor 0:0
Filip Petrov did not play for Javor.

Azerbaijan, Azərbaycan Kuboku, Khazar Lankaran – Neftçi 1:1
Both Igor Mitreski and Slavco Georgievski played the entire game for Neftçi as their team was eliminated from the Azerbaijan Cup by losing 5:4 on aggregate over the two games.  Mitreski also picked up a yellow card in the 29th minute.

Azerbaijan, Azərbaycan Kuboku, Inter Bakı – Abşeron 0:0
Filip Despotovski was an unused substitute for Inter Bakı who advanced to the next round of the Azerbaijan Cup by winning 1:0 on aggregate as they won the first leg 1:0.

Azerbaijan, Azərbaycan Kuboku, Turan Tovuz – AZAL 1:1
Robert Petrov played from the start for AZAL who advanced to the next round of the Azerbaijan Cup by winning 3:1 on aggregate.

Hungary, Monicomp Liga, Debrecen – Paksi 2:1
Mirsad Mijadinoski played all 90 minutes for Debrecen.

Turkey, Bank Asya 1. Lig, Altay – Orduspor 0:2
Muarem Muarem started for Orduspor and played the 1st half before he was substituted at the start of the 2nd half by Mehmet Ayaz while his teammate Jovan Kostovski started on the bench before he entered the game in the 86th minute replacing İbrahim Şahin.
