Goran Popov played the entire game for Dynamo Kyiv as he recovered from his injury and was pretty active throughout the match. The match ended 0:0 after 90 minutes so it went directly into penalty kicks where Popov converted his penalty and his side eventually won 4:3 on penalties.

Dragi Kocev, who is a member of Bulgarian club Lokomotv Plovdiv, played all 90 minutes for Zenit as their club was missing a lot of players who were on international duty so they asked Lokomotiv Plovdiv to give them some players for this game against Sparta Praha and Kocev happened to be one of those players.

Martin Bogatinov did not play as he was with the Macedonian national team so Karpaty started Vitaliy Rudenko at keeper while Andriy Tlumak was on the bench as the #2 keeper. With the win, Karpaty Lviv won the Copa del Sol and will be awarded 40,000 euros for winning the tournament while Shakhtar Donetsk will take home 30,000 euros for finishing in second place.
