Muarem is congratulated after his goalAgim Ibraimi and Maribor reached the group stages of the Champions League, Muarem scored the crucial goal for Qarabağ to send them past Twente in the Europa League, while Arijan Ademi had to leave Dinamo Zagreb’s game with an injury.

UEFA Champions League, Play-off Round, Athletic Bilbao – Napoli 3:1
Goran Pandev did not accompany Napoli for their trip to Spain since he was not included in the team’s squad for this matchup against Athletic Bilbao.  Napoli lost 4:2 on aggregate to settle for a place in the Europa League (every losing side in the Champions League play-off round goes to the group stages of the Europa League).

UEFA Champions League, Play-off Round, Celtic – Maribor 0:1
Agim Ibraimi played all 90 minutes for Maribor who needed a goal from Marcos Tavares in the 75th minute to eliminate Celtic.  Maribor played positive football and was rewarded with that goal to reach a great achievement in their history.  They advanced to the group stages of the Champions League where on Thursday Maribor learned that their opponents would be Chelsea, Schalke 04 and Sporting Lisbon in Group G.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Dinamo Zagreb – Petrolul 2:1
Arijan Ademi started in central midfield for Dinamo Zagreb and played until the 90th minute when an injury forced him to be substituted by Ante Ćorić.  Ademi came close to scoring in the 88th minute when his well places shot was saved nicely by the Petrolul keeper.  The very next minute, Ademi went down with an injury and was unable to continue, leading to his substitution.  Dinamo Zagreb’s website did not disclose whether the injury is serious or not, but it would be a big blow if Ademi has to withdraw from the Macedonian national team for the qualifier against Spain.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Sheriff – Rijeka 0:3
Adis Jahovikj was an unused substitute for Rijeka who defeated Sheriff 4:0 on aggregate to reach the group stages of the Europa League.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Borussia Mönchengladbach – Sarajevo 7:0
Krste Velkoski played the entire game for Sarajevo who suffered a heavy defeat against German Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach.  Velkoski started up front as the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation, but he did not receive much service as the opponent proved too much for Sarajevo.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Hull City – Lokeren 2:1
Besart Abdurahimi was an unused substitute for Lokeren.  This matchup finished 2:2 on aggregate, but Lokeren moves on due to the away goals rule.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Twente – Qarabağ 1:1
Muarem Muarem started for Qarabağ and played until the 71st minute when he was replaced by Danilo Dias.  Muarem scored the lone goal for Qarabağ in the 51st minute to send his team to the group stages of the Europa League.  It was 1:1 on aggregate over the two games, but Qarabağ scored the all important away goal to eliminate Dutch top division club Twente.

Romania, Liga I, CFR Cluj – Gaz Metan Mediaș 4:1
Mirko Ivanovski opened on the bench for CFR Cluj before he was introduced in the 70th minute to take the place of Portuguese striker Guima.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, BH Telecom Premier League, Olimpic – Borac Banja Luka 4:1
Filip Gligorov played all 90 minutes for Olimpic in the comfortable home victory over Borac Banja Luka.
