Midweek internationals performances

Noveski gets up high to win header; photo: Mainz FacebookAdis Jahovikj grabbed his first competitive goal for Rijeka, all three teams featuring Macedonian players in the third round of Champions League qualifying won their games, while the clubs of Ferhan Hasani and Aleksandar Trajkovski suffered heavy lossess in Europa League qualifying.

UEFA Champions League, Third qualifying round, Maribor – Maccabi Tel Aviv 1:0
Agim Ibraimi started for Maribor and played until the 78th minute when he was replaced by Sintayehu Sallallich.  Maribor notched a narrow win by scoring the game winning goal in stoppage time of the 90th minute.

UEFA Champions League, Third qualifying round, Aalborg – Dinamo Zagreb 0:1
Arijan Ademi played all 90 minutes for Dinamo Zagreb who departed Denmark with a positive results from their first leg against Aalborg.  Ademi started in defensive midfield and played a part in his side holding a clean sheet.

UEFA Champions League, Third qualifying round, Qarabağ – Red Bull Salzburg 2:1
Muarem Muarem was an unused substitute for Qarabağ.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Mainz – Asteras Tripoli 1:0
Nikolche Noveski played the entire game for Mainz and was part of a defense that kept a clean sheet in the home triumph over Asteras Tripoli.  Noveski also picked up a late yellow card in the 90th minute.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Club Brugge – Brøndby 3:0
Ferhan Hasani started on the left wing for Brøndby and played until the 86th minute when he was substituted by Frederik Holst.  Hasani had his best chance in the 20th minute, but his finishing let him down and he missed the target.  This game was closer than the score would indicate, but Brøndby was inefficient in attack while also conceding three goals.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Zulte Waregem – Shakhtyor 2:5
Aleksandar Trajkovski opened on the bench for Zulte Waregem before he was introduced in the 77th minute to replace Charni Ekangamene.  In what was a shocking results that few saw coming, Zulte Waregem was routed at home by Belarusian side Shakhtyor.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Víkingur – Rijeka 1:5
Adis Jahovikj played all 90 minutes for Rijeka and compiled a goal and an assist in the easy win over the club from Faroe Islands.  Jahovikj scored with a close range header in the 52nd minute before notching an assist in the 76th minute.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Sarajevo – Atromitos 1:2
Krste Velkoski played the entire game for Sarajevo and also received a yellow card in the 72nd minute.  In front of 15,000 fans at home, Sarajevo fell just short in the first leg of their matchup against Atromitos.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Young Boys – Ermis 1:0
Martin Bogatinov played from the start for Ermis and conceded one goal in the 58th minute.  Young Boys had over 20 shots on goal, but they only managed to get one of them to reach the back of the net.

UEFA Europa League, Third qualifying round, Dinamo Minsk – CFR Cluj 1:0
Mirko Ivanovski was not included in the 18 player matchday squad by CFR Cluj.  Mirko is working on improving his fitness before he is given a chance by CFR Cluj.

Denmark, Superliga, Brøndby – Silkeborg 2:0
Ferhan Hasani played all 90 minutes for Brøndby and recorded the assist on the second goal late in the game.  This game took place on Monday as Brøndby played two matches in a four day span (the Europa League qualifier vs. Club Brugge being on Thursday).

Poland, T-Mobile Ekstraklasa, Wisła Kraków – Piast Gliwice 1:1
Ostoja Stjepanovikj continues to be sidelined with a serious knee injury for Wisła Kraków.  Stjepanovikj underwent surgery for a torn ACL earlier this week, meaning he will be out of action for the remainder of 2014.

Romania, Liga I Bergenbier, CSMS Iași – Viitorul 0:0
Boban Nikolov was not among the 18 players called up by Viitorul.  This game was played on July 28, which was Boban’s 20th birthday since he was born on that day in 1994, but he didn’t get a chance by Viitorul.

Thailand, Toyota Thai Premier League, Chainat – PTT Rayong 2:0
Borche Manevski did not feature for Chainat in their home victory over PTT Rayong.

Sweden, Allsvenskan, Häcken – Djurgården 2:1
Leonard Zuta began the game on the bench for Häcken before he entered the pitch in the 86th minute to replace René Makondele.
