Aleksandar Stankov celebrates his goal; photo: vff.dkDaniel Georgievski and Steaua București reached the Champions League group stages,Aleksandar Stankov scored the game winning goal for Viborg in Danish Cup action, while Stevica Ristikj debuted for Shonan Bellmare.

UEFA Champions League, Play-off Round, Legia Warszawa – Steaua București 2:2
Daniel Georgievski played the entire game for Steaua București and also received a yellow card in the 33rd minute.  After the two games, it was 3:3 on aggregate but Steaua had the all important two away goals to book a place in the Champions League.  On Thursday, Steaua learned that their opponents in the Round of 32 will be Chelsea, Schalke 04 and Basel.

UEFA Champions League, Play-off Round, Maribor – Viktoria Plzeň 0:1
Agim Ibraimi played all 90 minutes for Maribor and had his best chance in the 82nd minute when his shot on goal was parried away by the Viktoria Plzeň keeper out for a corner.  Maribor lost 1:4 on aggregate, and will now settle for a place in the Europa League group stages.  It will be interesting to see what happens to Ibraimi now that the Maribor failed to reach the Champions League.  The transfer window is closing in many leagues on 31 August, and the newspapers linking Ibraimi with a move out of Maribor mentioned that the Slovenian club is expected to make a decision, whether to keep Ibraimi or cash in, shortly after the outcome in the matchup against Viktoria Plzeň.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Spartak Moskva – St. Gallen 2:4
Muhamed Demiri remains sidelined with an injury for St. Gallen who prevailed 5:3 on aggregate over Spartak Moskva to reach the group stages of the Europa League.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Astra – Maccabi Haifa 1:1
Mirko Ivanovski played the entire game for Astra and also received a yellow card in the 50th minute.  Astra exits the competition after losing 1:3 on aggregate to Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, APOEL – Zulte Waregem 1:2
Aleksandar Trajkovski got the start for Zulte Waregem, in the absence of injured striker Mbaye Leye, and played until the 67th minute when he was substituted by Jens Naessens, a played who scored the late winner in the 90th minute to send the Belgian club to the Europa League.  This was likely Trajkovski’s last game in a Zulte Waregem uniform.  This past Tuesday, Belgian newspapers published a photo of Aleksandar at Mechelen headquarters where he was having talks with the club’s manager.  In addition, on Trajkovski’s official twitter feed, found here, he retweeted information about his likely transfer to Mechelen.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Tottenham – Dinamo Tbilisi 3:0
Darko Glishikj started on the bench for Dinamo Tbilisi before he entered the game in the 34th minute replacing fellow left-back Dato Kvirkvelia.  Dinamo Tbilisi proved no match for Tottenham who cruised to an 8:0 aggregate victory over the two games.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Nice – Apollon 1:0
Bojan Markoski was not included in the Apollon squad due to an injury.  Apollon won 2:1 on aggregate to advance to the Europa League group stages.

UEFA Europa League, Play-off Round, Eintracht Frankfurt – Qarabağ 2:1
Muarem Muarem was an unused substitute for Qarabağ who lost 1:4 on aggregate over the two games against Eintracht Frankfurt to exit the competition.

Switzerland, Challenge League, Wil – Biel-Bienne 1:2
Adis Jahovikj started for Wil and played until the 90th minute when he received his second yellow card of the game, thus leading to a sending off.  Earlier in the 13th minute, Jahovikj struck the post in his best chance of the game.

Sweden, Allsvenskan, Brommapojkarna – Mjällby 2:0
Daniel Ivanovski played the entire game for Mjällby who conceded a goal in each half on their way to the road loss against Brommapojkarna.

Sweden, Allsvenskan, Häcken – Norrköping 1:0
Leonard Zuta was an unused substitute for Häcken.

Slovakia, Slovenský Pohár, Baník Ružiná – Košice 1:3
Darko Tofiloski played from the start for Košice and conceded one goal in the 83rd minute.  Košice, however, scored three earlier goals in the 1st half to defeat Baník Ružiná and reach the next round of the Slovak Cup.

Japan, J.League, Kashiwa – Shonan Bellmare 5:2
Stevica Ristikj debuted for Shonan Bellmare by getting the start in attack and playing all 90 minutes in the heavy road defeat against Kashiwa.

Japan, J.League, Nagoya – Oita 2:1
Nikola Jakimovski started on the bench for Nagoya before he entered the game in the 89th minute to substitute Keiji Tamada.

Denmark, DBU Pokalen, Jammerbugt – Viborg 0:1
Aleksandar Stankov began the game on the bench for Viborg before he was introduced in the 55th minute to replace Danilo Arrieta.  Five minutes later, Stankov scored the lone goal of the match with a header to help Viborg reach the next round of the Danish Cup.
