Igor Mitreski was not included in the 18 player squad by Neftçi. Since the game was tied at 0:0 after 90 minutes and then remained goalless following the added 30 minutes of extra time, the match went into penalty kicks where Neftçi prevailed 5:3 to claim the Azeri Cup over Xəzər, a team managed by former Macedonian national team coach John Toshack.

Filip Ivanovski started in attack for Astana and played until the 73rd minute when he was substituted by Igor Ţîgîrlaş. Ivanovski scored the opening goal in the 16th minute for his first strike of the season.
