Goran Pandev started for Inter and had his first chance in the 10th minute but his shot from just outside the box was blocked by his teammate Samuel Eto’o. Pandev was inches from scoring in the 26th minute when he received a cross from Eto’o but it was just a tad long and Pandev threw out his leg but the shot didn’t have much power and the keeper made an easy save. Pandev should have done better in the 44th minute with Inter on the counter attack but his pass to Diego Milito let him down and Inter squandered a great opportunity. Pandev was substituted in the 71st minute.

Nikolce Noveski played all 90 minutes and had another solid game as Mainz got a big win against the 4th place team in the German Bundesliga. This game was also revenge for Mainz as they beat their former manager, Jurgen Klopp, who managed Mainz from 2001-2008 before he left to take over as the manager of Borussia Dortmund.

Nikolov should have done better on the first goal as he got his hand on the ball after a Borussia player tried to lob the ball over Nikolov but it took a lucky deflection and it found Marco Reus who scored from close range.

Ilco Naumoski was suspended for this game as he picked up his 5th yellow card last week while Goce Sedloski started on the bench before he came on at the start of the 2nd half with the score tied at 1:1. Mattersburg scored twice in the 2nd half and they went on to win 3:1. The third Macedonian on Mattersburg, Ostoja Stjepanovic, was not called up.
