Germany, Bundesliga, Hamburg – Mainz 2:1
Nikolche Noveski played all 90 minutes for Mainz in central defense, while Valmir Nafiu was not among the 18 players called up by Hamburg. Noveski was back in the starting lineup for the first time since late August (that happened to be the opening round of the season). Nikolche was rusty as he was directly at fault for both Hamburg goals. On the first goal, Noveski failed in his attempt to clear the ball, leading to a goal by Cléber of Hamburg. Meanwhile, on the second goal, the referee awarded the home side a penalty after a cross struck Noveski’s hand inside the area. Rafael van der Vaart converted the spot kick to put the game away as Mainz could only muster a late consolation goal. This was Noveski’s 250th appearance in the German Bundesliga, 249 of those coming with Mainz (his other one came with Hansa Rostock).

Then, Trajkovski nearly collected an assist just before halftime when he nicely set up a teammate (whose shot from close range was saved once again by Ryan). Finally, in the 74th minute, Trajkovski appeared to be fouled inside the area, but the referee waved play on, much to the disgust of the Zulte Waregem players and coaches.
