Italy, Serie A, Inter – Lecce 1:0
Goran Pandev started for Inter and played until the 72nd minute when he was replaced by Philippe Coutinho. Pandev started on the right wing in a 4-2-3-1 formation as Inter struggled throughout the 1st half dealing with Lecce’s defensive tactics as Lecce had all 11 players in their own half for large parts of the 1st half. The Inter players were constantly losing possession of the ball as they were each going against two or even three Lecce players whose obvious game plan was to defend and maybe get lucky on a counter attack. Inter finally broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Wesley Sneijder passed it to Pandev who made a nice flick to Giampaolo Pazzini who chested the ball down before he turned and scored past the Lecce keeper. The Lecce players protested to the referee because they felt Pazzini used his hand but the goal stood for Inter who are now only two points behind rivals Milan for first place on the Serie A table.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Dnipro – Dynamo Kyiv 1:0

Constantinos Charalambides attempted a shot that hit both the right and left goal posts and Trickovski scored on the rebound but the assistant referee ruled it offside. Replays clearly showed that Trickovski was onside but the decision by the assistant referee didn’t prove decisive as APOEL held on for the win.
