Macedonia U21 defeated Albania

The Macedonian U21 national football team led by the coach Mirsad Jonuz managed to defeat Albanian U21 team on a friendly match played on ‘Flamurtari’ venue in Valona, Albania.

Nothing of interest happened in the opening 10 minutes, but the first real excitement happened in 13th minute when referee Sokol Jareci pointed on the white spot in favour of the home team. However, Darko Tofiloski, macedonian goalkeeper, was more succesful in the duel between him and Bakaj from Albania and managed to save the shot. Couple of minutes before Gligorov’s goal the fans saw another chance for Albania. This time Bakaj crossed and Zeqiri’s shot ended on the wrong side of the goal. In 34th minute Gligor Gligorov used the assist from Alimi and brought Macedonia to lead, which turned out to be the final score. Right before the half time, Alimi and Gligorov once again posed threat to Albania’s goal, but this time the score left unchanged. The second half as well hasn’t been very exciting. Both Mirsad Jonuz and Artan Bushati have substituted several players. Tofiloski was once again called in action in 67th minute when Abilaliaj had chance, but Dimitrovski was also watchful and the chance was squandered. Afterwards, a weird situation followed when in only 1 minute two players received red card. In 76th minute Bakaj received second yellow card and only in 77th minute Cuculi from Macedonia received a red card. Before the final whistle Albania had one or two new chances, but in the end the score stayed on 0-1. This is definitely a great start for Macedonia U21 team and we wish them even more successes in the future.
