Macedonia U19 through to Elite Round

altMacedonia U19 needed a point against the hosts in the last qualification match, and they got it.

Macedonia U19 – Bosnia and Herzegovina U19 1:1. Enough for Macedonia to get the second place and qualify for the Elite Round. Great success for the Macedonian football hopes. After the initial win over Czech Republic, Macedonia lost to Belarus but needed only a point against the hosts no matter the outcome of the match Czech Republic – Belarus. The Czechs did win that match, but Macedonia remains second because of better mutual score.

The match against Bosnia and Herzegovina did not started good for Macedonia. The hosts were leading in the 8th minute, but Macedonia leveled towards the end of the first half after a corner kick when Huseinpahić scored an own goal. Macedonia played a rather good match and Nurisi had a great opportunity in the 68th minute but a dubious referee offside decision stopped him. Zuparić from Bosnia and Herzegovina received a red card in the 82nd minute which made things bit easier for Macedonia.

Macedonia has thus qualified for the Elite Round where 7 groups consisted of 4 teams each will compete. Winners of those groups along with the hosts make the final tournament.
