Katanec not leaving Macedonia for Iraklis

Srecko KatanecSrečko Katanec, the coach of the Macedonian national team, categorically denied the rumors that came this morning from Greece and confirmed that he will not leave Macedonia because of the Greek club Iraklis Saloniki.

Srečko Katanec categorically denied the rumors that he will resign on his coaching position at the Macedonian national team and will continue with coaching Greek club Iraklis. He confirmed that he has a contract with the football federation of Macedonia until 2010 and will not leave until it expires.

According to the rumors that came from Greece this morning, Iraklis and Katanec reached an agreement and Katanec was supposed to have his second spell in Greece. Iraklis had a bad start in the season and Spanish manager Ángel Pedraza got sacked. The president of Iraklis, Antonis Remos received a negative answer by Croat Dušan Bajević and tried to find Pedraza's successor between two former coaches of Olympiakos, Takis Lemonis and Srečko Katanec. The rumors spread fast between the Greek media which said that Remos and Katanec reached a verbal agreement and everybody expected Katanec to arrive in Thessaloniki in order to sign a contract with Iraklis.
