Macedonia continued the unsuccessful row of matches away from home and failed to win same as in the last 15 months. Iran had the lead after the first half, but Macedonia had more of the ball possession and Goran Pandev used one of the created chances and equalized on the beginning of the second half.

Under the heavy rain on the almost empty stadium in Tehran, Macedonia started the match with better play and had more of the ball possession, but failed to create serious scoring chances. The hosts mainly threatened with long shots and inthe 36th minute after a free kick from long distance, goalkeeper Pacovski made a mistake and the wet ball slipped out of his hands, so Teymourian tapped in the rebound from close range.

Macedonia responded just four minutes into second half, when a cross from the right side by Lazarevski, found Goran Pandev on the far post, who perfectly headed the ball past the Iranian goalkeeper.

The next biggest excitements on the match happened in the last seconds when Iran hit the crossbar and in the next attack on the other side Rahmati saved Ibraimi’s shot.
