Bazhe Ilijoski has accompanied Rapid București for their training camp in Scotland, and his transfer is expected to become official upon the passing of a medical.
Ilijoski’s now former club, Braşov, has caused some problems by threatening Bazhe with legal action and warning other teams against signing the player. Braşov alleges that Ilijoski still has one more year left on his contract, while the Macedonian international believes he is a free agent since his original contract was until the end of this past season with an option for an additional year. Ilijoski declined the option since he wanted to continue his career with a more ambitious club.
Rapid București does not seem worried about Braşov’s stance, and feels confident that FIFA, the governing body, will side with Ilijoski on this issue. Bazhe has even accompanied Rapid București for their training camp in Scotland, and the club’s official website mentioned that the transfers of Ilijoski and five other players will become official once medicals are successfully completed.
Regardless of what Ilijoski does with his likely new team, Bazhe is unlikely to receive a call up to the Macedonian national team for as long as John Toshack is the manager. Ilijoski was one of several players who criticized Toshack for his player selections which upset the Welshman who then demanded that the players in question retract from their statements.
