Half-season completed

18 completed rounds, 5 matches per day, 90 total matches, 1 was not fully played (Renova – Makedonija). We saw a total of 214 goals if we count the 3 official goals for Makedonija Gjorche Petrov on the interrupted match mentioned above. There was an average of something more then 11 goals per matchday or 2.38 goals per match. The biggest home win and the biggest win in overall is certainly Sileks' 7-1 win over Napredok in the 14th round. Milano's 2-4 win over Vardar is the biggest away win if we exclude the offical 0-3.

Let's take a look at players statistics now. De Brito from Makedonija Gjorche Petrov is on the first place on the goalscorers' list. With 10 goals scored (4 from the 11 meters spot) he leads in the championhsip and is followed by Jancevski with 9 and Levkov, Kirovski and Gligorovski with 8 goals scored.
Armend Alimi from Milano is the most 'generous' player with no less then 9 assists. He is by far the best from that aspect as the players who follow him on the second position have no more than 4 assists. Mainly thanks to his many assists Alimi is also sharing the first place on the MacedonianFootball points® table alongside with the leading goalscorer De Brito. As already mentioned earlier, MacedonianFootball points® is a custom players' table where we gather the goals and the assists by players. Alimi and De Brito have 12 points so far, Washington is third with 10.

Now, let's throw a glance at the cards. Dirtiest player this season is definitely Krstev from Turnovo Horizont who, somehow, managed to receive 4 red cards. Right behind him is Despotovski from Renova who received 3 red cards. With the yellow cards list once again we have Turnovo players' topping it. This time it is Postolov and Hristovski with 7 together with Askov from Napredok. Pelister is the team with the least yellow cards so far, only 29, which really looks like a small number compared to Renova's and Turnovo's 52. But, at the same time, Pelister is right behind Turnovo in the total ammount of red cards – Turnovo has 8, while Pelister 7. Milano, Rabotnicki and Metalurg can praise themselves for a fair play as only one player from each team was dismissed before the full time whistle.

Statistics can be interesting, but a lots of statistics can become boring. Plus, they are like a bikini. They show much but do not reveal the most important. In order to do that, we highly recommend you to follow closely the macedonian football league in the second half of the season. We guarantee huge excitements. The next round is scheduled on 1st of March 2009. However, MacedonianFootball.com will of course be active during the winter break and will provide you with latest news and information on transfers, once the transfer market opens.
