Fun facts for first league 2010/11

alt Once the squad lists have been updated at MacedonianFootball.com it is time for updating an fun facts’ list.

Having looked at all the squads from the first league teams for 2010/11 season we can clearly see that most experienced or the oldest player for this season will be Teteks’ captain Darko Saveski who is born on 21st of June, 1971 or is 39 years old. He is followed by Vardar’s Arben Nuhiu who is 38, born on 27.02.1972.

While Vardar has one of the oldest players in the league on the one side, on the other they have submitted one of the youngest. Petar Cavkovski, if brought on, is the youngest player in whole league and could be breaking even some European records with his 15 years and 103 days on the beginning of the championship. Petar is born on 20.04.1995 or is whole 23 years younger then his team-mate Arben Nuhiu. Just a month older then Cavkovski is Martin Aleksov from Bregalnica Stip. Several other talented youngsters will also be fighting for a place in the first team with the ‘big-dogs’. Shkendija has 16-years-old Valmir Nafiu, Skopje has Filip Nakov, while Napredok has the keeper Adil Muharem

This season the Brazilians have outnumbered the Serbians in the championship. At the moment there are 5 Brazilians plus Wandeir who holds both Brazilian and Macedonian nationality, plus de Moura from Bregalnica Stip who waits for paper-work before he can officially be submitted in the squad list. Except de Moura, all other Brazilians are playing in Rabotnicki which is the squad with most foreigners. Ladulé is the only player from the United States of America, while Teteks and Renova have 1 player from Kosovo. Renova has also 1 from Mauritania, Pelister awaits 2 Nigerians, while Rabotnicki have 1 from that country. Skopje, Horizont Turnovo and Napredok are ‘patriotic’ and have no foreigners at their teams. Napredok have twin brothers in Armin and Agron Ibraimi.

Maybe Toni Jakimovski, Teteks’ coach, might have hard time choosing a striker from his 4 available (Rijad Sinani is on double registration with Rinija from Gostivar), but he certainly will have even harder time choosing a keeper from the 5 available.

When we are talking about overall squad average age from the squad lists submitted at MacedonianFootball it is notable that Sileks have the youngest squad with average age of 20.62 years and no player older then 25 years. Vardar follows with 20.86 and Pelister with 21.69 while Renova have definitely the most experienced squad with average age of 26.46 years. Seeing at squad depth, it is obvious Ljupco Markovski – Kalc likes to keep his options open, submitting 31 players for his Skopje squad.
