The Qatar football association offered a friendly game between Macedonia and Qatar to be played in Skopje in October and the Football federation of Macedonian accepted the offer.

The game will be played this year at the National Arena Philip II of Macedon in Skopje on one of the biggest Macedonia national holidays, the 11th of October.

The Qatar football association was founded in 1960 and was accepted by FIFA ten years later, in 1970, while in the AFC was accepted in 1972. Their national team has never qualified for any World Cup while it has played 7 times in the Asian Cup (1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2007) and in 2011 will have its 8th appearance since Qatar will be host.

Qatar and Macedonia have already played once a friendly game on 25th July 2001 in Paris, France. Qatar won with 1:0.
