Friendly: Macedonia – Finland 1:1 (Video)

Macedonia played a 1:1 draw in the first of the two back to back friendlies. Several chances were created, but only a penalty goal was scored.

Milevski opted for a change of formation with 4-1-4-1 and returnee Ilija Nestorovski as lone striker. Between the posts was Stole Dimitrieski, in the back line Ezgjan Alioski as left back, Visar Musliu and Nikola Serafimov as CBs and Ezgon Bejtulai on the right, Enis Bardhi served as DM, Elif Elmas LM, Stefan Spirovski and Boban Nikolov as CMs with returning captain Stefan Ristovski as right midfielder. There was one change on the bench with Bojan Dimoski being additionally called up at the place of David Babunski. FFM gave no reason why Babunski was missing.

It was pretty much even game in the opening 15 minutes without chances on both sides. Exactly at the end of the 15th minute Nestorovski had a good effort on a rebound ball, but Jesse Joronen well saved.

Finland threatened in the 26th minute when Suhonen shot outside the box and hit the right post. The visitors had another chance in the 31st minute when Antman sent a ball over Dimitrievski from left, but Lod on the far post failed to send the ball in the empty net.

The 37th minute was underway when Spirovski gave away a ball in midfield which resulted in a counter attack. Antman went one on one with Dimitrievski and broke the dead lock

The very next minute Elmas had a nice solo run penetrating in the box when Nestorovski took the ball for a shot, but Joronen denied him again. In the last minute before the break Elmas lovely served Nestorovski who fell short and from 5 meters sent a very weak shot at Joronen.

Milevski changes the formation to 4-4-2 as Bojan Miovski and Ljupcho Doriev came in at half-time substituting Bejtulai and Spirovski.

Alioski and Bardhi well combined at the left flank in the 50th minute resulting Bardhi coming towards the goal, he served Nestorovski whose shot got blocked. A minute later Bardhi tried a smart under the wall low ball shot from free kick, but Joronen was careful.

Finland followed with three attempts, of which the third in the 60th minute was the best when captain Joel Pohjanpalo was alone, but Dimitrievski denied his shot.

Alioski came inside the box from left in the 74th minute when was brought down by Mikael Soisalo and the Serbian referee awarded a penalty. Bardhi converted it equalizing the score.

Five minutes from time Finland nearly scored when Tomas’ header hit the post.

Eventually the match ended in a draw.
