The current leaders in Macedonia, Vardar, suffered a heavy 4:0 loss during today’s friendly against CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria.
For the second consecutive month, CSKA recorded a comfortable friendly victory over a Macedonian team. Last month, they defeated Metalurg 3:0 and today they won 4:0 over Vardar.
CSKA opened the scoring in the 30th minute through Brazilian Michel Platini who scored directly from a free kick. The free kick was on the edge of the area and Platini managed to beat Vardar keeper Goran Simov. CSKA added the second goal just before halftime following a free kick from the left. The ball eventually reached Petar Stoyanov in the box who scored from close range.
The third goal in the 58th minute was a wonder goal by Stoyanov whose volley from about 25 yards went over the outstretched arms of Simov. CSKA finished the scoring in the 88th minute when Anton Karachanakov was through on goal and scored with a nice chip over the Vardar keeper.
Vardar was without the services of attackers Filip Ivanovski and Vlatko Grozdanoski who were with the Macedonian national team.
