Macedonia continued its goal-scoring woes by going another game without a goal, this time against China.  Manager Boshko Gjurovski fielded a fairly young lineup that lacked experience.  Six of the eleven starters were actually making their debut for Macedonia.  Still, the young players had a chance to showcase themselves under Gjurovski, but did not take advantage of the opportunity.

After a goalless opening half, China took the initiative in the second half by scoring two goals in the 56th and 89th minute.  The game was not televised outside of China, but videos of the goals were quickly made available on Chinese websites.

The first goal came on a shot from the edge of the area after a nice through ball to create the chance, while the second goal in the 89th minute came as a result of poor goalkeeping.  A Chinese player collected a goal on an effort from outside the area after Macedonian keeper Kristijan Naumovski froze on the shot.

These two teams will play their second and final friendly on 22 June. This was Macedonia’s fourth clash with China and is still looking for a win as so far China won 3 times.
