The Football federation of Macedonia has arranged a friendly match against Moldova on February 11th, 2009. The match will be played on neutral venue in Antalya, Turkey.
The Macedonian national team will start 2009 with a friendly match against Moldova. The match will be played in Antalya – the famous Turkish football resort during the winter periods. Srečko Katanec will have a shot preparation period with the players as the team will arrive in Turkey on three days before the match. This will be the last test before the match from the qualifications for the WC 2010 away to Holland on April 1st, 2009.
Currently Moldova is last placed in their WC 2010 qualification Group 2 with only one point (draw away to Luxembourg). Most of the Moldavian national team members play in the domestic and also the Russian league. Some of the most notable players are Alexandru Epureanu from FK Moskva, Alexandru Gaţcan from FK Rostov and Igor Bugaiov from FK Ural.
Previously Macedonia met Moldova in the WC 2002 qualifications and drew 2:2 in Skopje and 0:0 in Chisinau.
