What was published by the Bosnian media in the past days today was officially confirmed by the two federations. Macedonia will visit Bosnia-Herzegovina for a friendly match in the capital city of Sarajevo at the Asim Ferhatović Hase stadium, also known as Koševo, on 29 May 2026 with the exact kick-off time to be additionally announced by the hosts.

This match will be used by Bosnia-Herzegovina for preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup as the popular Dragons shocked Italy in the play-offs and qualified for the second time in their history.

It will also be a great opportunity for the new Macedonian national team coach Goce Sedloski to get to know the players better. This should not be the only friendly for our national team in May/June. There are rumors that the Lynx will play against Türkiye away in Istanbul, but that match is still unconfirmed.

Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are no strangers as so far have met 5 times, with all matches being friendly. However, for this new generation it will be a first encounter as the last match between the two took place back in March 2008. Interestingly, Edin Džeko played back then and it is expected to play now as well. Also, current Bosnian national team coach Sergej Barbarez played in 3 of the friendly matches and scored a brace in the 4:4 draw.

Past encounters:

03.06.1998 1:1 draw (match report)
29.03.2000 0:1 defeat (match report)
27.03.2002 4:4 draw (match report)
18.02.2004 1:0 win (match report)
