With a shocking decision on only 2 days before the start of the Macedonian First League, Bashkimi from Kumanovo quits from competing in Macedonian football because of financial problems.
Last year Bashkimi was bought by the same family that owns the neighboring club Milano. But after taking over their stadium and renaming it to “Milano arena” and after taking all of Bashkimi’s best players, the owners decided that they can’t invest in two clubs. Several efforts for fusion were made, but today on only two days before the start of the Macedonian First League, Bashkimi informed that they are quitting the league and competing on all levels from the Macedonian football, despite the fact that Bashkimi had far more fans and bigger tradition then the newly formed Milano.
The new season in the Macedonian football starts this weekend and under this circumstances the Macedonian First League will have 11 clubs.
