Vardar celebrated a hard fought win in Bitola in the opening round of the new championship.
Vardar managed to defeat Pelister in Bitola in the ‘Derby of Macedonia’ with a goal scored by Filip Petrov in the second half but the match will remain in the shadow of the incidents that occurred towards the end of it when an explosion was heard on the small stand where the away fans were seated causing one fan to lose his arm. The police is yet to give a public statement on how this incident happened.
As for the match itself, Vardar did not impress but did enough to secure a win and start their campaign on a positive note. The lone goal of the match was scored in the second half after an excellent cross by Hovhannes Hambardzumyan which was used by Petrov who headed the ball home and brought his team the three points.
