Nima Modyr, the agent of Filip Pivkovski, told a Swedish website that his client has accepted an invitation to play for the Macedonian U21 national team.
We were alerted to the article concerning Pivkovski by a follower of the MacedonianFootball.com facebook page named Ilija Fidanovski. He linked the article to the Swedish website that had reported that Pivkovski was choosing to play for Macedonia U21.
Pivkovski is an attacker who is currently under contract with Italian Serie B side Novara. However, currently he mostly plays for the club’s primavera team. On Saturday, Pivkovski played 74 minutes for the Novara primavera team in a 3:0 loss against their counterparts from Sampdoria.
The lineups from the game were as following:
Sampdoria (3-5-2): Falcone; Caracciolo, Placido, Zigrossi; Rolando (80′ Petdji Tsila), Fenati (86′ Cocurullo), Lombardo, Hraiech, Dejori; Ciccone (74′ Corsini), Oneto.
Novara (4-4-2): Montipò; Bellino, Davighi, Beye, Derosa; Bertolino (52′ Jokinen), Rocca, Augliera, Schiavi (84′ Pisoni); Pivkovski (74′. Svichi), Buksa.
Pivkovski turns 20 next January and has formerly been capped by the youth national teams of Sweden, including a stint as the captain of the Sweden U18 national team at point. But, it looks like Sweden U21 is no longer interested in the services of Pivkovski, so he has decided to make the switch to Macedonia.
Nima Modyr told Swedish website “fotbollskanalen.se” the following, “He has been invited to the Macedonian U21 national team and will therefore change the national team he represents. It’s a good opportunity for him to play at an international level for their U21 national team and be exposed to European qualifiers.”
On his official twitter feed, which you can view here, Pivkovski posted the contents of the “fotbollskanalen.se” article so there is no questioning the validity of the source.
