Midfielder Filip Despotovski has still not found a team and remains a free agent.
Filip Despotovski parted ways with Inter Bakı earlier this summer but he has been unable to find a team. The stumbling block seems to the asking salary of Despotovski which has scared of interested teams. Despotovski has so far negotiated with two clubs from Uzbekistan, Pakhtakor and Bunyodkor, but he failed to agree to terms and remains without a team. Despotovski also signed late in the summer last year with Inter Bakı and that seemed to affect his form. The Inter Bakı manager stated earlier this summer that one of the problems for Despotovski was that he signed late and was not in the best shape when he got to the club from Azerbaijan. He then suffered a nagging injury that also slowed him down and that led to Inter Bakı deciding not to bring him back for this upcoming season.
Despotovski has also been linked with Vardar but he will surely have to take a pay cut to accept the move to Vardar. Despotovski has said that if he returned to Macedonia, it will only be to Vardar. One of the big reasons he might consider signing with Vardar is to be closer to family. Despite playing in Azerbaijan last year, his wife and son decided to stay in Macedonia and Despotovski said being alone in another country was tough on him.
Despotovski was one of the new names that Mirsad Jonuz introduced after he was named the manager of the Macedonian national team. To date, Despotovski has made 17 appearances for the senior national team but is still looking for his first goal. Filip plays as a defensive midfielder and has had the most success during his stint in Ukraine with Vorskla Poltava from 2008 to 2010.
