The Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) presented new manager John Toshack to the media during today’s press conference.
John Toshack arrived in Macedonia yesterday and was officially presented as the new manager of the Macedonian national team during today’s press conference. Toshack will lead Macedonia for the rest of the EURO 2012 qualifiers and for the 2014 World Cup qualifications. The FFM president, Hari Hagi-Risteski, commented that he was very satisfied that a football legend like Toshack was interested in becoming the manager of Macedonia. He also went on to add that he expects the people at FFM to work together and help Toshack in order to reach good results for the Macedonia national team.
During the press conference, Toshack stated that he is familiar with football in the Balkans and knows the players in this region are very technically gifted. He also mentioned that visits to Belgrade or Zagreb during his coaching career were always challenging but his ambitions are to lead Macedonia to qualify for a place in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. In the next 12 months, Toshack will witness the true potential of the national team as he has already watched and analyzed several games that were already played during EURO 2012 qualifying.
Towards the end of the press conference, Hagi-Risteski said that the arrival of Toshack was a big recognition for Macedonian football and he awarded Toshack a jersey with the #10.
