This upcoming Tuesday, the 27th of May, Macedonia’s U21 team will play a friendly against the Qatar Olympic team.
The Qatar Olympic team features players that are 23 years old or younger. They will compete in the 2014 Asian games later this year, and are using these friendlies to prepare for that. On 24 May, they drew 1:1 against the U21 team of Ireland. Three days later, they will have a friendly against the Macedonian U21 team in Germany.
Macedonia U21 flew out to Germany late on Saturday in preparation for the match. Many of the players who made the trip are the same ones who were called up for Friday’s qualifier against Portugal U21, with the exception of five players. Dorian Babunski, Darko Micevski, Visar Musliu, Dino Najdoski and Egzon Bejtulai did not accompany the team to Germany. The reasons given were injuries (Najdoski, Musliu), club obligations (Babunski, Micevski) and personal reasons (Bejtulai).
With the withdrawal of those five players, U21 manager Boban Babunski made two new call-ups in Viktor Talevski (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Mevlan Adili (Shkupi).
These are the 18 players that made the trip to Germany for the friendly against Qatar’s Olympic team:
